Michigan Residents May Qualify for up to $2,000 to Help Advance Career
In partnership with the Michigan Learning & Education Advancement Program (MiLEAP), North Central Michigan College is offering support to those who are dislocated, underemployed, essential workers, living in distressed rural and urban communities, and are economically disadvantaged.
Access to the MiLEAP grant will cover partial or full course tuition (up to $2,000). You are able to use this money to further your education and earn industry-recognized credentials that can take your career to the next level. Who qualifies for the MiLEAP Grant Program?
You may qualify if:
- You are 18+ years old
- Are a resident of Michigan
- Have your GED or high school diploma
- Have been dislocated, are underemployed, or are economically disadvantaged
Eligible Courses
The following courses are eligible for the MiLEAP grant at North Central Michigan College:
Pharmacy Technician
Prepare for a career as a pharmacy technician through this interaction and immersive course. From medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy related to the pharmacology of medications, pharmaceutical calculations, and more, you will learn everything you need to launch your new career—fully online!
Upon completing this course, you will be prepared to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This course also includes a voucher which covers the fee for the exam.
Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist (CEHRS)
Learn how to implement and manage electronic health records, including charting, HIPAA compliance, and more.
You will be prepared to work on a health information management team, auditing records, compiling reports for patient tracking, and coordinating the systems that keep our healthcare facilities operating successfully.
Professional Bookkeeping with QuickBooks Online
Master QuickBooks Online to prepare for a rewarding career in the booking field. Learn to use basic, intermediate, and advanced features of QuickBooks Online proficiently and prepare for the QuickBooks Certified User Exam—all in six months or less.
Microsoft Office Specialist with Certification
Build your expertise through hands-on exercises, in-depth course material, and video demonstrations. By course completion, you will learn the most advanced skills and techniques to best use Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and prepare to take the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Associate certification exams.
HVAC/R Technician
Prepare for a career in the HVAC/R industry with hands-on guidance for service, repair, and solutions. You will be ready to pass all 17 HVAC Excellence Employment Ready Certificates, the EPA 608, and the NATE Ready to Work Certificate by course completion—exam vouchers provided. Complete your training for this rewarding and in-demand field in 12 months or less.
