Marisa’s Experience in our Homeschooling Course
Having the flexibility of online courses made it possible for Marisa to remain a stay at home mom, a teacher to her kids, and a learner of her own pace. In her ed2go story, Marisa explains how our homeschooling course helped her develop imperative communication skills and better understand her children’s needs.
Marisa’s ed2go Story:
Hello,
I am a mom of two special needs and autistic young boys. Last year my youngest was out of school for 168 days due to his medical condition. He did have a tutor for half of the year, which helped. After working with him everyday, I saw so much improvement with his ability to communicate and have small but decent conversations. He was able to communicate his wants and needs instead of using one or two words.
It was then that I decided that I wanted to homeschool him. But I had no idea where to start, what to teach, or even where to look for information on homeschooling. Then I found ed2go and there was a course on homeschooling. It not only gave me the information but it gave me the confidence to know that “Hey I could do this- I can teach my son at the level he is at, one-on-one, so that he could grow and expand more!”
Hands down, the instructor and her assistant were awesome. If I had a question they got right back to me with no wait. The course was easy to navigate, especially for someone who has not been in school for twenty-three years!
I have been looking at some other courses on the website and look forward to taking another at the start of the year. I am so grateful that there are courses like these out there for parents like me to be able to teach my kids at my own pace. It is so hard to do so much and the boys keep me on my toes all the time.
Thanks again for creating such a wonderful way for people to learn!
Sincerely,
Marisa C.
