How to Pay for the Your ed2go Course
If you’re anything like me, your first question when contemplating a purchase is “how much is this going to cost?” often followed by, “what do I have to gain from buying this?” When it comes to career training or higher education, the benefits are many, but the ability to pay for training is always a tough ask.
Fortunately, there are numerous options that can help pay for career training. Below, we’ve outlined some of the major funding options, including solutions that will cover the cost of your training, so you can advance your career!
MyCAA
The My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship Program is a free training benefit for military spouses. Spouses of active-duty military personnel are eligible for up to $4,500 to apply towards career training in a highly-employable profession. The goal of this benefit is to allow military spouses to have an easier time obtaining employment when frequently relocating for their spouse’s career.
WIOA
WIOA (Workforce Investment Opportunity Act) supersedes the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). This government-funded program enables underemployed and unemployed workers to obtain funding for career advancement training.
Working closely with local employers, job boards can help process your request for funding and help with job placement.
Company Reimbursement
If you’re currently employed by a small or large business, many employers offer tuition reimbursement for advanced training. Often, plans are tiered, offering repayment based on your academic performance, but even the slightest bit of help can be huge.
If you know your company does not have a formal reimbursement policy, Investopedia offers some tips, to help you ask your manager/supervisor for assistance with the cost of advanced training.
Private Loans
Those who are employed and don’t qualify for government assistance can always consider private loans to help cover the cost of career training. Some colleges and universities have funding resources on-campus, while others outsource to trusted vendors. There are also online options, such as Sallie Mae, who now offers career training loan options.
