Lance B. Shares His Story About His PMP Certification Prep Course

Initially, Lance was drawn to the PMP certification prep courses because of their competitive price, but he soon learned that the amazing price wasn’t the only benefit. Here’s his story:

I recently completed the PMP Certification Prep I course led by Tony Swaim.  This and the predecessor Project Management Fundamentals course were the first online courses I have ever taken outside of those offered by my employer.  The information concerning the course indicated that it would be of value to me, but I couldn’t be sure until I enrolled and took the course.  The price was also very competitive.

When I started into the course material, I realized very quickly that Tony was delivering immediate value to me, regardless of whether I ever passed the exam.  The practical examples and observations helped me to understand why some of the projects I have worked on have succeeded and why some have failed.  Yes, I knew some of those reasons intuitively, but I wasn’t aware of all the tools and methods I might use to prevent problems from occurring.  Also, the PMBOK guide used to prepare for the exam is pretty daunting, and it is not always a model of clarity.  The course material provided additional clarity to help me better understand the PMBOK guide.  Tony also offered many practical tools and tips to help me prepare for the exam.

The discussion board provided a forum for sharing between classmates and with the instructor.  I was interested in the work experiences of my classmates and relieved to know that some of my challenges were common ones.  Tony responded promptly to questions on the discussion board and sometimes asked follow up questions of me.  For me this made online learning more personal and interactive.

Additional links to reference material were offered with each lesson in the course.  I found these links valuable as they provided additional tools and information to expand on the course material.  I’ve accessed some of those links after completing the course so they are of ongoing value to me.

Finally, I loved the flexibility to learn according to my schedule.  My work schedule is demanding and variable, so online learning is perfect for me.  I concluded that this course offered through ed2go delivered great results for me and gave a solid return on investment.  I’ll be enrolling in the PMP Certification Prep II course, soon and I have also recommended these courses to several of my colleagues.
