Did you know that we launched a new and improved medical billing and coding course in January 2021? Here are five reasons you should check out this course (and this career) in the New Year!
1. We’re combining all of our medical billing and coding courses and bundles into one comprehensive course designed to help you successfully prepare for a new career.
If you’ve ever looked at courses in medical billing and coding in the past, you know that it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the different certifications available. With our new Medical Billing and Coding course, we’ve eliminated the guesswork! This new course will teach you about medical billing and coding jobs and the various certification paths you can take. At the end of the course, you’ll choose from three types of certification: CBCS, CCA, or CPC depending on your career goals. Learning about the profession and certifications first allows you to make more informed decisions on your future.
2. Prepare for and choose from three highly recognized and respected types of medical billing and coding certifications.
Upon completion of your studies, you’ll have the option to receive a voucher for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) Medical Billing and Coding exam, the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Medical Billing and Coding exam, or the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Medical Billing and Coding exam. It’s your choice! During the course, a certification preparation lesson will help you decide which certification is right for you based on your career goals and the type of job and healthcare setting you want.
3. Get valuable hands-on experience and an Externship Starter Kit in our Medical Billing and Coding course.
Our new course is packed with tons of hands-on experience you won’t find anywhere else. A scenario-based “Reality Check” feature begins each lesson by providing a real-life look at situations medical billing and coding professionals may encounter. Then, the Putting It Into Practice features in the Review section provides you with “real-life” billing and coding scenarios and follow-up questions to assess your knowledge of the content. Coding and claim form activities and assignments also offer hands-on experience and practice with the types of things you will do on the job. You’ll also receive an Externship Starter Kit that may assist you in finding and securing an externship that will provide valuable experience as you look for a job and start your career in medical billing and coding.
4. Fresh content and learning checks help you assess your progress throughout the course and successfully prepare for a new career.
The course is based on the latest information available in the industry. You’ll receive training not only in medical billing and coding but also in the most common medical terminology you will encounter every day on the job. Our content follows a modular progression starting with an introduction to the industry and the types of jobs available, then moving on to medical billing, medical coding, and finally to the various certifications available and how they might best fit you. Refreshed Learning Checks throughout the lessons allow you to assess your knowledge of the content that was presented. Key Terms/Flashcards at the end of each lesson provide you with an opportunity to review important terms introduced in each lesson, and optional Workbook assignments will help you apply concepts presented in the course. Upon completion of the course, we have no doubt you’ll be ready to take on a new job in medical billing and coding.
5. Medical billing and coding is a high-growth career field.
There is a high demand for qualified medical billing and coding professionals in the healthcare industry today. Jobs for these professionals are on the rise and expected to grow at 8% through 2029. This is double the average job growth of 4% according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Demand for qualified medical billers and coders will not be slowing down any time soon.
